In conjunction with the initiative of Discovery Communications to develop a new television studio facility in New York City for Food Network program production, as well as for other Discovery Communications production needs, Steve was engaged to provide initial “base-build” facility requirements and specifications to the Architectural design team.
The new studio facility was comprised of a series of Test Kitchens, a number of small studios, a large production studio, control rooms and edit rooms, where both live and recorded programs will be created.
In order to begin developing the technical details of the facility, a framework of the current and future technical production requirements also needed to be developed. This effort was focused along two key tracks:
- Architectural/Building Infrastructure Support to Discovery’s building Architects to ensure the building physical infrastructure accommodates the production requirements envisioned for the new facility.
- High level production requirements, technical viewpoint and workflow identified from which the new technical systems can be designed.
The development was performed in close collaboration with Food Channel program production staff, Discovery engineering, Discovery’s architectural team and Diversified’s production facility design engineers.
